In my CPI approved workshops, you can expect to learn not only how to doula, but also why we doula. This workshop covers evidence-based information about the benefits of doula support, the history of birth, the significance of doula support to families, practical hands-on techniques, as well as the steps to begin a career as a birth and/or postpartum doula.
Through discussion and hands-on activities, you will learn the skills and tools essential to provide support for moms and their families from pregnancy, through labor and birth, and into the early postpartum time.
Topics covered include: Introduction to doula labor support, Hormones of pregnancy, labor, & birth; Emotional support for birth, Communication skills as a doula, Physical support for birth, Doula’s role with interventions, cesarean & VBAC, Doula’s role during immediate postpartum & with the newborn, Breastfeeding support, Prenatal and postpartum doula visits, The CPI certification process and setting up your doula business.
This workshop is open to anyone looking to gain more knowledge about supporting women during the childbearing years, including educators, nurses, birth professionals, students, mamas, grandmas, yoga instructors, and bodyworkers.
Workshops are two days each and run 9am-5:30pm. Cost: $700.00
